Fourth Quarter Newsletter 2018
|“In the year 2018 we have been able to reach an estimated number of 1500 people and ¾ of those people were able to clearly hear the gospel.”|
We would like to pass on our thank you; first to God who has enabled us to will and to serve Him the past year. We thank Him for the strength and wisdom He has given us to remain serving Him faithfulness, we thank Him for His provision both for opportunities to share the gospel and for the financial support. We thank Him for the loving and supportive friends like you and your family, and finally we thank Him for His amazing grace, for without it, we wouldn’t have glorified Him with our service for a single day.
In the past year we were able to reach an estimated number of 1500 people and ¾ of those people were able to clearly hear the gospel. Generally, 2018 has been a good year for us, the Lord has allowed us many ministry opportunities and has opened new doors for us to take the gospel out as we will shortly share.
We are thankful to God as a family for having taken care us this year and favored with so many blessings, most importantly the birth of our son Joe who is coming to six months now.
In the picture below. From L. Claire and Joe, Kenny and Laushan and Edith and David.
We thank you for praying with and for us as that was quite a difficult pregnancy. We thank God for our eldest daughter Edith who started serving in the music team of our church and she has continued to do well in school as she remained un challenged in leading her class academically.
We are thankful for our 5-year-old daughter Laushan who last month graduated from kindergarten to primary one.
We also thankful for David who is growing so fast and God has allowed so many talents. By God’s grace He will be starting school next year. Continue to pray for Claire and I to remain faithful in our devotion to God and each other.
In our medical missions God has blessed us with many opportunities to take care of our patients but most importantly to have meaningful conversations leading to sharing of the gospel.
This year we have reached over 800 people both kids and adults in our medical missions.
We have managed to do this through our home clinic, medical camps and HIV awareness clinics. A big number of these people have been able to hear the gospel and God graciously saved a big number of them through our medical missions.
These youngsters came to get medicine and they heard the gospel and they trusted Christ for the salvations of their souls.
We were able to offer 80 antenatal kits to pregnant mothers.
This is a lady with her birthing kit.
These mothers would be at risk of losing their lives plus the lives of the new born. Many mothers cannot afford them yet the hospitals require them to have these kits before the medical worker can attend to them.
HIV AWARENESS CLINICS.
In our HIV awareness clinics, we have been able to reach over 500 young people with information about HIV. Today in Uganda 75% of the people acquiring HIV each are below the age of 25 years. And 60% of these young people live in the country side where they can’t easily access information about HIV since most of them have not gotten a chance to go to school and few public health programs are conducted in such places. We have been able to use this opportunity to both share the gospel instantly in school we have been going or create relationships with the kids and later invite them at our camp site where we can freely share the gospel without restraints from school administrations.
HIV continues to be a strong public health threat as many young people are acquiring it and living with it. part of the problem is that many young people grow as orphans [orphaned by HIV] therefore grow up without that parental love and guidance and because the increased need for basic requirements like food which they can’t afford, many young ladies are lured by older men who promise to take care of them and their siblings and in exchange for money, they offer their bodies. In the process they become single mothers and sometimes they can catch HIV from here. Claire has been working closely with the single mothers and the young ladies, trying to show them from Scripture that God loves them and for sure take care of them. She does this through training the young ladies in drama, music and netball. She recently prepared two events and they had such a profound effect on the lives of the young people and the entire community and neighboring communities. This has now opened for us opportunities to start small Bible clubs in the community in different homes. We are trusting God that many will come to the know the Lord through this kind of arrangement.
COMMUNITY KIDS CAMPS [VBS].
In our Kids and teenage camps, we have managed to reach about 200 kids in 2018. We have had a number of 6 camps and many kids have come to know the Lord through these camps. Most of the kids that come to our camps are kids we meet in school when we go to bring HIV awareness. In our Kids and teens camps we invite young people at our camp site during school breaks and we play exciting games with them, prepare a meal for them and then have a bible hour where we open God’s word and teach them.
In the kids and teenage camps its where most kids have met the Lord. These kids have actually made a way for us to enter into their parents’ homes and on several occasions we have had opportunities to have meaningful conversations and some of the parents have now come to the faith.
ESUUBI COMMUNITY CHURCH.
God graciously moved us to start a community church six months ago. Since then God has saved a number of people from the community and they are growing with in the fellowship of the church. Our community is one known for the history witchcraft and hate. Over the last one year, God has been working through us to bring the light of the gospel in this community. God has given us a lot of protection, wisdom, patience and resilience to withstand the pressures the enemy has brought our way through many community members that love the programs we have brought in the community but hate the gospel being preached. God has so far saved some, and others have explicitly heard the gospel. We are praying that this seed that has been sawn will bear a fruit at the fullness of time.
We yet have an opportunity to reach the community through the house gatherings we are starting this January possibly next week. Pray that God will open the hearts of community members to trust Christ for the Salvation of their souls.
Education and missions.
In our education and missions, we have been taking care of 70 kids to provide school supplies and tuition for some. We are now excited to let you know that our school of Hope we have been building close to two years is finally getting accomplished.
We will be taking in kids starting next week [second week of January]. We still need $690 for the floor, $1200 for the furniture and $700 for the library. We are trusting that God will touch the lives of our friends and well-wishers to make this dream come true. Our school is going to be an evangelistic and discipleship tool. This will enable us to reach 100s of kids with the gospel of Jesus on a weekly basis as we will include bible study in our curriculum. Pray us to get the resources needed and that our teachers will use their skills not only to acquire a salary but to see this as an opportunity to minister to the Lord.
Please feel free to make a financial gift towards our school, or sponsor a child as many of the kids coming to our school are orphans and therefore we will majorly depend on God’s provision through financial gifts from friends and well-wishers to run the school.
For $90 you can sponsor a kid in our school. So far we have 70 kids needing full sponsorship.
As we look forward and trusting the Lord for 2019.
We ask you to pray
- with and for us to be able to remain faithful in our Spiritual growth on a personal level, to be able to see and take up opportunities as the Lord provides them, to be able to create relationships in the community and use them to witness for our Lord.
- that our teachers will remain faithful in doing their job as teachers but also we will not lose the vision for which the school has been put in this community [to reach community members with the gospel of Jesus Christ.]
- that the believers in this community will let their light shine forth for those who haven’t come to the faith yet to see the work of Christ in the believers’ lives.
