Family News

Claire, the kids and I greet you in the name of our dear Lord Jesus Christ from many miles where we seated here in Mityana Uganda. Just like it’s in the most parts of world, here in Uganda we are on a lockdown, no school, no corporate worship and we are all advised to stay at home until further notice.    During our stay at home, God has allowed us a wonderful opportunity to slow down and spend time together and study God’s word on a daily basis more than we have been doing it before.

celebrating Edith’s 14th birthday

The children are doing well and enjoying their break from the rigorous school routine. David made four years on the 21st of March and Edith our biggest daughter made 14 on the 29th of May; we however celebrated earlier since we thought by this time the lockdown would have already been lifted and she would be in school.

We are thankful to God all our four children are growing well in stature and in the fear of the Lord. Joe’s 2nd birth is coming up on the 22nd of June, he is growing and learning to speak; he is getting so fun to hang out with. Laushan who now prefers to be called Sarah our 7-year-old continues to seek understanding while weighing down on us very hard questions of why? How?, but we appreciate the curiosity of a 7-year-old and thankful that she parents she can lay her curiosity on.

We have planted a lot of food in our gardens: potatoes, sweet potatoes, cassava, beans, maize and plantain. Claire has been raising chickens,

David playing with the chicken while Mama is feeding others.

they are grown. We have already enjoyed some soup and they are starting to lay eggs, this will help in providing proteins to some of the kids we have put on our nutrition program.

In the not very good news, due to the scarcity of resources in the community, there is an increasing robbery. This is quite worrisome as we are considered given the socioeconomic status of the community considered rich. This makes our home a target for the bad guys; but we are trusting to take care of us and we are thankful to all of you who are praying for us and helping to with our perimeter wall we are building as a way of improving security at our home.

ESUUBI COMMUNITY CHURCH.

In Uganda corporate worship has  been suspended since March 19th 2020  until further notice. As a church we miss the fellowship of one another, but as a result of the lockdown, the church leadership developed a material that families are using to study and grow together in God’s word. Family worship is a big aspect of the church; since the fellowship of believers is made of family as small unit.

Our family having a fellowship sharing God’s word using the same material other families are using

We pray that this will be a discipline our families will uphold even after the lockdown.

As a church we started a local radio program “the foundation of the disciple of Jesus Christ.” In this program, we are currently answering the question “why should I trust Jesus Christ as my personal savior” with 12 different answers….

We are praying that God will use this program to reach many with the gospel of our Lord.

The program is getting pretty much a good response, people are following it and we believe God is using His word to communicate to the hearts of those He so desires to save. The older man in our church who I go with on the radio program is a convert from the Roman Catholic church. God first saved his son and daughter through Esuubi ministry, then his wife and finally this gentleman. This family has become so passionate for the Lord and have a great desire to glorify Him. Recently the priest from the convent called him at his office and harshly inquired from him why he quit Roman Catholicism, he even offered to build him a house upon his return to the Roman Catholicism. What you need to understand is; building a house for this mean could mean a whole lot, this is a man that struggles financially, this couple are in their late 50s and they still don’t have a personal house, they are living in a muddy house; but in the face of this luring he boldly decided to whether stay in a hut his entire life but not to denounce his faith in the Lord for the incentives the Roman Catholics was seducing him with. Please pray this family, the Roman Catholics feel pierced that he who belonged to them and worked at the convent now boldly proclaims the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Pray for our radio program reaches a population of about 12000 people. Our goal is to follow up this radio program with a door to door evangelism reaching those homes that are within a kilometer from our church property.

FOUNTAIN OF LIFE CHRISTIAN SCHOOL.

Just like corporate worship, schools in Uganda have been asked to stop operating until further notice.  We are not sure when schools will be opened, the Ugandan ministry of Education as provided schools and parents materials for children to study at home under guidance by a tutor or parent during this time while they stay at home as a way of combating the spread of the Corona virus. For children with educated parents, their parents will be able to help them navigate through the materials; unfortunately for our community, most of the parents are not educated [most of the kids are living with their grandmas], this means they will need a teacher to help them work through the materials.  This is quite a hard time mostly that some of our kids in the community are living with non-believing parents /guardians. This means that they are not being fed spiritually [although on a positive note they do have physical meals to eat, for we have provided for that through God’s provision of food] and most of the cannot read for themselves, this means that we cannot send them Biblical self-study materials at home.

A screenshot of the primary one study material.

We are praying that schools will be opened soon and we resume our time together; until then we request that join us in prayer for them that God will keep them safe.

Thank you for taking the time to read this Newsletter, we are grateful for your prayers and sacrificial giving to our ministry. We are still laid back on our monthly support as a family [we are at $350 out of $800. You can pray about coming to our   monthly support team with any amount as the Lord leads you. For you to set up an automatic monthly donation, go to our website [esuubicommunity.org] and set it up, it’s an easy process.

Please let us know how we can be in prayer with and for you. We send our love and greetings from here in Uganda, Mityana.
