THIRD QUARTER NEWSLETTER 2018
Greetings from Esuubi Community. Claire, the kids, I and the many other members of Esuubi community Church you don’t know send their greetings to you from Mityana Uganda; grace and peace to you.
|“Most of our church members where formerly drunkards and heavily practiced witchcraft but God has given them His grace to put off these things and they are eager to learn His and Word and obey.”|
As a family we greet and thank you for your continued support of the ministry God has made to be a part of. We thank you for your unrelenting prayers, encouraging messages and to some; your financial support.
Without your support things would have been a bit harder. Claire and kids are doing better. Our two daughters are part of the worship team. Edith who is 12 is part of the worship team of the big church and Laushan the 5-year-old sings with the little children’s’ church. They are both enjoying their serving. David seems to be more inclined to drumming because that’s where we have seen him going every time we go for the kid’s church. We pray for them to continue growing in stature, in knowledge of the Lord and loving Him. Our youngest son Joseph is growing so fast, I remember in the last Newsletter we were praying that he would get some sleep in the nights, God answered that prayer, he has been able to sleep in the night and that allows us to have restful nights as well. We also thank the Lord, David is no longer feeling jealous of Joseph, he now recognizes that Jo is only a young brother than a guy who came to take away his parents, we praise the Lord for that J
We ask you that you continue praying for us to continue find our time as a family, it’s a big temptation to minister outside our families yet our very families are starving of our love and attention. We pray that we will glorify God in this area as well!
Esuubi community Church.
We thank God for the warm fellowship He has allowed us at ECC, we haven’t grown so much in numbers, we have only had a few more members added to our congregation. But what we are witnessing to is the Spiritual growth of some of the members of the fellowship.
Claire and I hanging out with some of the ladies that have come to the Lord recently.
Most of our members where formerly drunkards and heavily practiced witchcraft but God has given them His grace to put off these things and they are eager to learn His and Word and obey. This community, which was formerly known for witchcraft, now its starting to be known as a God-fearing community. Not everyone is saved, but a big number of household have come to the faith and we have others slowly starting to visit the church. In the past there are people who couldn’t greet or even visit each other even when they come from the same community, but because our Lord is working in their hearts, the community has taken a different shift, people have started loving and being concerned for one another. As a Christian and a Pastor of the Community Church, that pleases my heart and thank God for the great things He is doing in the hearts of the community members. May His name be glorified in our community. We ask that you continue praying for our community to fall in love with Jesus deeply as they continue to learn and embrace God’s word. Pray for us as a family to continue being the example to the community more especially through the way I Love my wife and children as it’s a common practice here for men to selfishly mistreat their wives and neglect their children. Pray for Claire as she has a big task of being an example to women who are almost the age of her mom and grand mom. Pray for our children to know the Lord and be godly examples to other kids in the community and in schools.
The last couple of weeks our medical mission’s department has been very busy. We have managed to see over 800 patients both from our community and the neighboring communities.
Here I was seeing patients in one of the two medical camps we had in august.
The month of August and September where very busy. Our home often flooded with patients of all sorts but mostly kids below the age of five, pregnant mothers and elderly females.
We were privileged to host two general medical camps in August, in each of those camps we treated more than 500 people from all communities neighboring our community. We diagnosed a lot of new cases for malnutrition, HIV, DM and hypertension. Other cases where mostly with children their mothers never got adequate nutrition and antenatal care.
We now intend to start a basic clinic that can keep offering free or subsidized medical services other than just offering occasional mobile camps. We still do the home to home free medical care, but this is coming short as we receive a lot patient in our home, good thing, but we are losing the privacy and homeness of our home. We are praying and trusting God to find us people who will help with this felt need. In case you know anyone, who can help with it, you can share with them and if you need details, you email or PM Kenny or Claire on Messenger, we will be happy to give them to you.
Kids and teens camps.
God blessed with wonderful two weeks of camp.
Kids playing during a kids camp.
We didn’t have very many campers as we often do, but this helped us to generally focus on the needs of every camper. We seem to be going the side of having few campers but focusing on meeting their needs instead of having hundreds and yet we accomplish so little. We are also training a couple of young people from the church who will in the near future help to be camp counselors hence reducing the work load we have on us.
The theme of our camp was walking wisely [Ephesians 5:15-18]. Most of the kids that came to the camp are the kids we have been working in on going Bible studies. Please for our teenagers, there seem to be a very big challenge for them to remain Biblical as there is a lack of consistence with what they learn at church and the things some of them see their unbelieving parents do. Please for a godly discernment so that they start to make godly decisions.
Education and child sponsorship.
We are privileged to have 70 kids in our care. We help to supply basic scholastic materials to these kids and we pay tuition for a big number of them. We currently have only five kids that have sponsors committed to pay their tuition, for others we have to raise funds from our friends and well-wishers.
Some of the kids that need sponsors.
This is quite hard because we have about five people that often donate toward our ministry and they are not rich people, so with all the ministry needs we have that they try to voluntarily take care of, the tuition paying becomes a bit overwhelming for them. Therefore, we have most the kids dropping out of school right now.
In the meantime, we are building our own school in the community. all of the kids from the community have to walk a distance of more than 2KM to go the nearest government school. Even then, the quality of education there is wanting. Therefore. We decided to start building a school in the community which is quite stuck right now at the pre-roofing level. We are looking for funds to roof the school, currently we have already bought most of the iron sheet to make the roofing, we just need some funds to buy the rest of the iron sheets and to pay the guys who will roof it.
This is the community school we are building.
Then after roofing we will look for funds to buy doors and windows and then buy a few furniture. We dread talking about these things, but trust that God can do exceedingly beyond our imaginations. If know of any organization that helps with building schools, or your church, we will be more than grateful if you help to speak to them on our behalf.
In the other news.
- We are thankful for the rains that God has allowed us in the community, all of our people depend on the rain to grow their food. It been dry recently and peoples crops where starting to die out, but with the rain coming, everyone is happy.
- We are also grateful that we were able to build the church pit latrine with the help of one of our friends.
- We will be online on the 21st of October 2018 at 15hrs US time. We will be sharing our ministry with our friends across the world. We will be sharing how our ministry started, where we are now and where we believe God is taking us.
